I am passionate about literacy. I always have been. I learned to read at the age of 4 and have not stopped reading since.
As a young child, I helped teach others to read. I wrote as well. I wrote my first book at age 8. Reading and writing have always gone hand in hand for me. They are both something I am passionate about, something I love to do and something that I really try to encourage others to do as well.
When I was asked to be a part of the Random House Read and Play Summer Fun Community, I knew immediately that I would say yes. The chance to work on something that I love so much is just the perfect fit for me and truthfully when the ladies at The BlogFrog asked, I was honored that they considered me.
I am trying to raise children who love to read but frankly, it is not always easy. I took it for granted that my children would share the same love of reading that my husband and I share. And that didn’t happen right away.
In fact, our oldest ended up a little behind in reading in Kindergarten. It was so frustrating. But it was also a great learning opportunity for our entire family. We just needed to figure out what worked for us.
I am really excited to get to share our journey with you this Summer. I hope that you will check out the community. Jump right in. Ask questions. Give advice. Tell us how you foster a love of reading in your children.
We are kicking off things tonight with an official launch party:
