A few weeks ago I was asked about the worst gift that I have ever received. I had to think about it. Not because I don’t have one rather I had to narrow it down.

My husband says that I am hard to buy for but he simply doesn’t check Pinterest or the tons of magazines that I put Post-It Notes on. He tries though. They all try.

Many years ago my mother gave me a rather odd Christmas present. This was not unusual as she is fairly eclectic and holidays/presents are always somewhat of a surprise but this is one gift that I have talked about for years.

Here it is:

A Driftwood Wine Opener.

You actually cannot even open wine with it because it might break if you pull too hard on it. So it is really a decorative paperweight. It was not a good gift.

However, we probably all have worst gift stories and it really is the spirit of the season that matters most {unless you are my mother and if you are reading this, STEP AWAY from the driftwood wine openers!}
